The beginning of the year made me particularly proud because, in addition to “almost” completing Dry January (the challenge of going alcohol-free in January), I also took on my first Veganuary (the challenge of going vegan for January), during which I indulged in plenty of vegan breakfasts and snacks. I momentarily stole the title of sweet tooth from Marghe, the only vegetarian in the editorial team, to tell you about 7 pastry shops (and more) with vegan sweets in Milan.
Nepà: Vegan Pastry Shop in the Repubblica Area
Modern and 100% vegan, this pastry shop with a kitchen opened its doors in April 2023, born from the experience of Paola’s Fornovegano and her meeting with partners Giulia and Martina. Located in the Repubblica area, it’s ready to welcome you from morning until evening for breakfasts, lunches, snacks, and weekend brunches. The pastries, a thousand flavors+1, bring the pastry tray back into fashion, and for fans of Nordic breakfasts, vegan cinnamon rolls have been available since December. Ordering the maritozzo with 100% vegan cream? A must, as well as a pleasure.

Via S. Gregorio, 45 (M3 and Passante Repubblica)
Vegamore: Vegan Bistro, Deli, and Pastry in Porta Romana
This place not only has an incredibly rich offering but also serves generous portions. The display window is particularly inviting, with an entire shelf dedicated to vegan desserts: a succession of croissants and cookies giving way to truffles and chocolates like the “Bacio per Gina,” a hazelnut fondant. There are also cakes, such as the irresistible pear and chocolate, and fruit tarts with pastry cream. Alongside the classic tiramisu, also available gluten-free, you’ll find special editions like the chocolate brownie enriched with almond stracciatella and cacao beans.

I Dolci Namura: Historic Pastry Shop, Organic Since 2010
A historic pastry shop in the Gerusalemme area, it went organic in 2010. A must-visit for breakfast, where you’ll find a wide selection of vegan baked goods—don’t miss the empty brioche (like a cloud) and the pain au chocolat. In addition to viennoiserie, I highly recommend the coconut pastry and the chocolates, both with orange and raspberry creams.

Fornovegano and Flora et Labora: Sweet and Savory Vegan Products
Cakes, meringues, cookies, muffins, and the possibility of custom orders to celebrate special occasions. This is the wide range of offerings from Fornovegano, an artisan lab of sweet and savory vegan products, which started in 2016. Open to the public by appointment only, deliveries in Milan are free from Monday to Friday.
Don’t like booking in advance? You can try Fornovegano’s products at Flora et Labora, a plant shop and co-working space with a café along the Naviglio Pavese. A must-try, in my opinion, is the “Pistacchietto,” a muffin where tofu pairs with pistachio crunch for a whole new flavor.

Eutopia: Vegan Café and Bistro in the Centrale Area
An artisan lab in Porta Volta with a romantic soul, featuring large dreamlike drawings on the walls, flowers on the tables, and beautiful ceramics. The single-portion desserts? A dream as well. Among my favorites are “Giardini di Babilonia,” with cardamom and coconut, and “Suzuki,” a wholemeal cocoa biscuit filled with azuki mousse and fruit compote (if it’s apricot, it tastes like a sacher!). Impossible to leave the café without picking up some indispensable products: cookies, granola, and pralines.

Radicetonda: Vegan in Porta Venezia and Porta Romana
A charming little place, surely a lady’s delight. Also available with cocoa shortcrust pastry, the classic version of this cookie reaches perfection with its perfectly balanced savory dough. Among other products, which are free from refined sugars and many of which are gluten-free, I particularly enjoyed the Rocher energy ball, the banana bread with chocolate chips, and the apple, cinnamon, and lemon cake.
Found in both Corso Lodi and Porta Venezia, this pastry shop complements the offerings of a vegetarian and vegan restaurant that, since last year, has been serving “Nori Way” at its Porta Romana location in the evening, the first 100% plant-based sushi in Italy. The family seems to be expanding with exciting new vegan sweet options coming soon…

it’SO NATURAL for Vegan Sweets in Sant’Agostino, Milan
In Piazza Sant’Agostino, delightful vegan cakes are made with whole wheat flour, vegetable milk, and butter. Given the good assortment of flavors, after a meal with a vegetable burger, I was tempted by a single-portion cake with a soft apple and jam center. When I took it to go, I was kindly given a vegan chocolate as a gift.
This pastry shop and bistro, focusing on highly selected organic ingredients, is not 100% vegan. I suggest checking with the staff for available options.

Vegan Sweets in Milan? Margherita’s Favorite Spots
Both already mentioned on the blog, I couldn’t end the list without mentioning Leccornie, a 100% vegan pastry shop in Bovisa, and Nowhere – Coffee & Community, a café in the Ticinese area. The must-try vegan sweets? Margherita (another girl in our team) has no doubts: at Leccornie, the Sicilian cannoli with “vegan ricotta” and at Nowhere, the carrot cake.
