Once mainly loved by tourists, Pasta Bars—small spots specializing in pasta, often available for take-away—have now landed in Milan, and in no time, they’ve won over the hearts of the locals too.

Perfect for a quick lunch break or take-away, each offers its own twist, but pasta always takes center stage in the kitchen.

If you love carbs as much as I do, here’s a list of the best ones around. And, as always, you’ll find a handy list below to screenshot and save!

Trafilata

This pasta lab with an in-house kitchen, just steps from the Duomo, serves a variety of bronze-drawn pasta made with semi-whole semolina. Sauces range from classics like carbonara, amatriciana, and pesto to veggie-forward options like artichokes or friarielli.

I tried the caserecci with artichokes and pecorino and the paccheri alla carbonara. The pasta was perfectly al dente, really well made, and the sauces rich and flavorful. There are outdoor tables, and it’s a lovely place to sit!

Pasto

Open only for lunch, this pasta bar is a favorite among international visitors. Every day features a new menu with fresh pasta dishes rooted in Italian tradition.

I tried the tagliatelle with tomato and basil, topped with buffalo mozzarella from Paestum. You can really taste the freshness and quality of the handmade pasta and top-notch ingredients!

Al Dente

Ideal for a quick bite or take-away, Al Dente offers a variety of fresh and stuffed pasta in both regular and large portions.

You’ll find classics like penne with tomato sauce, tagliatelle alla bolognese, and gnocchi alla sorrentina. I had the menu with bucatini all’amatriciana, a drink, coffee, and dessert for €15, and it was totally satisfying.

The Fisherman Pasta

One of the first Pasta Bars in the city, this charming Brera location specializes in seafood pasta—long, short, or stuffed. Expect dishes like linguine allo scoglio, spaghetti alle vongole, sea bream ravioli with saffron sauce, and shrimp and citrus-stuffed mezzelune.

If you’re craving the sea in Milan, this is a must-visit! (Serena even wrote a review about it [here].)

Ta’ Bonu!

This Culurgiones Bar near Central Station serves a wide variety of culurgiones, traditional Sardinian stuffed pasta made with potato, pecorino, and mint.

I loved both the classic versions—with tomato and pecorino or sausage ragù—and the creative ones like zucchini cream with tomatoes and bottarga, or squid ink and shrimp! Don’t miss the fried culurgiones—they’re super tasty!

Mastro Tortello

This place specializes in egg-based tortelli, with both traditional and gourmet fillings.

I tried the ricotta and lemon tortelloni, topped with lemon zest and herbed breadcrumb crumble, and the truffle and black pepper ones. The pasta is well-made, but the filling truly steals the show!

Pastaàgogo

One of Milan’s first Pasta Bars, just off Piazzale Loreto, also excels at take-away. They serve fresh, handmade pasta using simple, wholesome ingredients.

My favorite? The egg tagliatelle with tomato sauce and meatballs. The portions are huge!

Bottega Farina

This small pasta shop offers a rotating daily menu of semolina and stuffed pasta, all handcrafted. You can enjoy it at one of the few outdoor tables or take it to go. Perfectly cooked pasta, generous portions, and delicious sauces make this spot a winner.

Highly recommend the orecchiette alla carbonara and the mezze maniche with parmesan cream, guanciale, and pistachio.
